Teaching Practicum

20 hours during July, with opportunities to do more in Karma Yoga classes at Newport Yoga. Details TBA.

Includes student teaching as well as observing and assisting in classes taught by others. (In your Teaching Practicum, you will be required to teach classes having a minimum of 2 people per class (but only 2 evaluation forms are required to be filled out per class by attendees.)

Personal Practice Hours

Minimum of 40 hours

A minimum of 40 hours is required of your own personal yoga practice – Yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory. In order to teach you must have a h2 personal practice. These hours can be completed by taking any yoga classes at Newport Yoga for free during the month of July and August 2009, and also the last 2 weeks in June.

As an example, this would equal taking 32 yoga classes that are 1 hour and 15 minutes long. Or 27 yoga classes that are one and a half hours long. There are many daily classes to choose from before or after the hours of the teacher training. (Don’t worry, this boils down to 3 or 4 yoga classes per week if spread out. Yoga class attendance is logged on individual sign-in sheets.)

Guest Speakers & Special Outings / Field Trips / Events

We will have weekly guest speakers coming in for special educational presentations. There are also be a minimum of 2 outings/special events planned. Details to be released soon.
